JIO 4G VoLTE Effect: Airtel Launch 4G VoLTE Services In India With A New Plan Probebility Launch Date as Feb 2018.
The biggest telecom operator Airtel in the country has announced it own VoLTE service across the country by March 2018. Airtel India MD and CEO Gopal Vittal said the company has done VoLTE trials in 5-6 cities already.
Bharti Airtel on Tueday reported its smallest profit in 18 quarters as the price war triggered by newcomer Reliance Jio led to a massive 75 percent fall in its April-June earnings.The net profit for the first quarter of 2017-18, at Rs. 367 crores, was 74.9 percent lower than the ago year.
Reliance Jio has announced that it will launch a 4G feature phone against one-time refundable deposit of Rs. 1,500 a unit. Vittal said that Jio's feature phone will open up new segment for 4G services.
"We believe that this could propel the launch of cheaper phones in the market and that is something that we embrace. We will work with all the device companies to encourage this. We will continue to look at opportunity where we can bundle," he said while raising uncertainty over pick up of JioPhone.
Vittal said that the price of the feature phone is on the higher side than what is being sold in the market.
